remember when...

I made this claim?

Well, I did it!
I actually ran 13.1 miles in the Top of Utah half marathon
(get in your car and drive13.1 miles really slow and you will realize how freaking far 13.1 miles really IS!)

It was a great day,
the weather was perfect,
and I felt really good.

Thank you to the BEST parents in the world for meeting up with me a couple of times during the course.
It was so motivating to see their smiling faces cheering me on.
Thanks for running for a few minutes with me Dad, love you!

It was also really great to run the same race as my super-fast father-in-law and brother-in-law
(They both took 6th place in their age divisions.  Great job guys!)

And a big, fat thank you for coming back and running the last 1/2 mile with me!
(Craig, It was especially helpful when you grabbed my hand and pulled me along at a 7:15/mile pace and told me to pass up all of those people at the end. )

A finish line never looked so good
It looked even better when I crossed it in 2 hours 1 minute and 29.7 seconds.
Boo-yah!

and a big congrats to my bestie friend Gina for finishing with an awesome time!
I loved sharing this experience with you!
(for my records)
Stats:
Division (F 25-29):  92nd out of 276
Gender Placing:  209 out of  1,385
Overall: 743 out of 2,013

Crystal, I'm so impressed by this. When I went grocery shopping on Saturday there were lots of runners around and I thought of you. Can you keep this running up so maybe in a year when maybe I'll be up for running I'll join ya? But there is always a chance you won't be here. Bummer. Well good job! You have a wonderful support team.

I am so impressed! Just for the record, that is faster than my first 1/2 marathon. I ran in 2:02. You are awesome! I wish I could have been there to cheer you on!

Go Crystal! I am so so so happy for you. That's quite an accomplishment and one that many people don't ever get to complete. You rocked that race! I hope you go out and celebrate big time! Boo Ya!

You are looking pretty trim -- it must be time to get pregnant again.

Congratulations on being another masochist in the family. I can't hardly get myself to run around my block on a regular basis

Way to go Crystal! That is a major accomplishment and a great time. I am also super jealous of your hydration belt and your cute little figure. I wish we would have been there to see you cross the finish line. I also agree with Mike, we could use a couple more Frost cousins!

I can't stop laughing at Mike's comment about how it is time to get pregnant. Pretty sure that in our married life the times that I have found myself at my favorite weight, or pant size I somehow end up pregnant quickly after, I think it is God's way to keep me from fulfilling my vain personality.

Congrats on the race. I am really impressed with you, and your family. What a fun way for everyone to be involved in the same things and be together. For having just run 13 miles you make it look like it was nothing out of the norm for you. Now if you will excuse me I am off to find some cookies while trying not to think about being fit and trim.

Crystal, you are my inspiration! Really truly. Good Job! And your hair even looked amazing at the end of a half-marathon!!!! I am glad to have you around, even if it is for only a little while longer. Oh, and I have the third book and I am working on finishing it as soon as possible, so if you need one to borrow, it's yours!

Crystal! You are amazing! I was just randomly thinking of you and remembered that Megan had a link on your blog. I'm so glad I looked, because you are my hero. I've recently decided that I love to run. I'm still working my way up, and the furthest I've gone is about 5.5 miles. Baby steps. You rock!

Oh my goodness, Crystal, you and Gina are amazing!! Wow. I'm so inspired by you. I HATE running, and I know you do/did too, so this makes me think maybe one day, maybe, just maybe, I could do something like this. I've seen LeRand go from hating to loving it (although it still has been about 9 mos. since his last real run, his excuse is that he's waiting to get some good shoes (those barefooty ones, if you have any idea of what I'm talking about)).

PS I still laugh every time I think of Hazel ditching that swing at your parents', hilarious

You are my hero! I can't how amazing you are! Your super mom! I couldn't do it! I'm gonna have to start setting my goals! Now that your super skinny and in shape, your gonna get pregnant again! lol. Thats what happened to me!

BreAnna said...

Way to go, the girl who claims to hate running! That is a really fantastic time, you have got to feel great about snagging that at your first! Let me guess, shortly after the finish you were thinking "when's the next one?" It gets in your blood I tell you, all training you think "why, why, why" and during the race you think "never again" but once you get through that finish gate "bring it on" Seriously I hope you feel GREAT about this huge accomplishment!
