All ABOARD!

Well, it looks like this little goof has a one-way ticket on the "potty train".

I started potty training her last Monday.
To be honest, the first 3 days were totally hellish.
Not that Hazel wasn't doing really well,
but I think I was being unrealistic about how it was "supposed" to be going
and overly dramatic about how I was never going to be able to leave the house again
(It doesn't help that it's the dreaded month of January and I have a severe case of cabin-fever).

However,
I had promised myself that once I started potty training,
no matter how hard it was,
I wasn't going to put her back in diapers.

4 days after we started she has been 99.9% accident free.

She wears underwear all day and Pull-Ups while she sleeps (although she is totally unaware that pull-ups are glorified diapers.  I've made sure to inform her that they are special "Buzz and Woody underwear" that she only gets to wear while she's sleeping).

The most exciting thing (for her) is that they have a special star on them that disappears if she goes potty.
The most exciting thing (for me) is that the star is almost always there when she wakes up.

In fact, one day after naps, we were both so excited to find her "special star" still intact, that we ("we"="hazel") decided to turn the dry "Buzz and Woody underwear" into party hats
(see above pictures)

In summary, the last 10 days have consisted almost entirely of:
new underwear,
bathroom breaks,
potty stories,
potty toys,
singing,
clapping,
dancing,
praises,
flushing,
handwashing,
treats,

and repeat.

I'm relieved to say that it's really starting to pay off.

Aggggh! What's your secret?! I tried 6 months ago with Deacon and it was a no-go. I don't know when to start again! Help!!

Great job! I do not miss changing diapers. I could do without public bathrooms, but I will take it over the alternative. Hazel looks so grown up (if you can look past the fact she has underware on her head).

Yeah! I'm so glad it went so well for you. I knew you would both do great. I love the pictures, what a crack up! Just think of all the money you will save not having to buy diapers... that alone with be worth the first three days of potty training in January!

Congrats! Potty training can be a bear. I think I stayed home for about 3 days with Drew and it about killed me, too!

I am very impressed. Yay for you AND Hazel! So exciting for you both.
To answer your question that you posed on my last post: They are Euronext extensions, and I got them at Sally's. A girl there helped me match the color of my hair, but I know some people just get them and dye them the same color of their hair. They come in like 10" and 14". Mine are 14". I got them for the same reason you stated. My hair gets to a point, and just stops growing, so I gave up. I really like them. They are easy to use and I can clip them in and out as I please. I look forward to seeing if you get some yourself :)

You are so awesome, way to go! I haven't even thought about potty training Asher yet, but I'm thinking he's about ready. And I'm sure ready to stop spraying his crap off cloth diapers. Kid can poop. Miss you tons, especially lately!! So good talking to you for a sec the other day. Btw, crafty little me whipped up some homemade cloth wipes to put in the cute little "wipe tote and spray" that you got me. At least that's what we think it is, right? ;)

PS-Notice the times of the comments before my first one; I think for a minute there you were one of the most read blogs on the net :)

I am so impressed with both of you, Steele is not even close, he can wet out of a night-time diaper, I can't believe she can go all night! You two rock!

That second picture KILLS me! I'm still impressed she stopped playing at the play place to let you know she had to go. I knew you'd have success from that moment on. Oh Crystal, your girl is getting so big.

YAY! That's so great! I can't believe it. She's growing up far too quickly. Is it weird that I'm so proud of her, I'm like oozing with joy? Erik and I were talking about her last night and how grown up she is. I told him that I could never be more proud of the babe that inspired me to have my own! We just love her! Erik's so excited to see her on Spring break! He hasn't seen her for SO long! We can't wait! PLUS, me and Penn get a weekend full of some baby Hazel! YAHOO!!! ANYWAY, congratulations, you great mother, you. That's why I call you with my questions. You're brilliant. Brilliant.

AWESOME! Hazel really is "cute and smart!" How did you go bout doing this? Pottywise, or what did you do cause obviously it worked very well!

And hello, I totally would have come and hung out at your house when I locked myself out of my house, but it was only for a few minutes and I was on my way to ballet so I was in a huge hurry so I called the maintenence man and got him over real quick! Thanks thought!

Hazel is SO cute and in that 3rd picture she looks a lot like Taylor!

Awesome. The fact that you will have no diapers to change is amazing. You lucky duck! Isn't it always a relief when something goes so much easier than you were expecting? Those moments do not happen very much for moms. Way to go!

I am more than impressed with you entire house hold. So happy to hear that she has caught on quickly AND she wants to continue. Potty training is pretty much the most frustrating thing ever for me, so I am really happy to hear that it is a good experience for other people.

I like the potty party hats, nice touch for the potty train. I can't believe that you are closing in on the two year mark. Why do they grow up so fast.

Keep on with the potty songs and dances and treats soon she will not even remember that she wore diapers.

Nice work Crystal. You deserve a big pat on the back...or maybe some free time out of the house.
