An Apple a Day (October 2013)

October can only mean one thing...
apple season;
Which we LOVE!
And thanks to the Obergs apple orchard,
we get plenty of apples.

We take some of the apples
to a local press in the valley
to make cider,
and stock our freezer with what Taylor describes as
"nectar of the Gods".

We use the rest of the apples
to make homemade applesauce,
which may or may not have turned our girls
into applesauce snobs...
....Hazel won't even eat store-bought applesauce anymore
(unless it's in one of those squeeze pouches).
I think it's safe to say
that we go through a jar of applesauce
every other day,
so the 40 quart-sized mason jars don't last very long.
