A Name and a Blessing

On a beautiful September day,
amongst the trees and the autumn afternoon,
Taylor gave Nora a name and a sweet little blessing.

Upon reflection of Hazel's blessing day,
I came to the realization that it was wrought with a lot of stress and anxiety.
So as to avoid that same scenario,
we decided to tweak Nora's blessing day
to make it a more relaxing, intimate experience.

Instead of blessing Nora at church,
in a new ward where we only know a handful of people,
we opted to bless her supported by family and close friends

Instead of stressing about keeping my house clean,
or finding an arena big enough for our guests,
we opted to have the blessing at Taylor's family's campground
where there was plenty of room for all,
and the only cleaning I did was hosing down the table and chairs.

Instead of the usual "blessing" fare,
we decided that a dutch-oven-dinner fit the bill,

and instead of blessing Nora in Hazel's blessing dress
(which was the original plan until my aunt struck gold in her cedar chest),
we blessed her in my mother's blessing dress
(I won't tell you how old it is, but it's definitely vintage, hahah).

Thank you to everyone who came;
your love and support means everything to us.

So sad we missed this, we would have loved to be there! It sounds like the entire thing was so pleasant. And a dutch oven dinner? Could it be any more perfectly Oberg?! Give both Nora and Hazel a big wet kiss for me. :) Miss you guys!

That's so special! What a great idea! Blessing are very stressful and I've noticed a lot of people opting for home blessings. Something for me to think about!

It's probably all my emotions I already had running through my body but this made me cry. However, I LOVED that you decided to opt for a stress-free blessing. I loved being able to bless Huddys at my house. However, getting to bless the baby outdoors would have been a dream! It looks beautiful. OH AND THE DRESS?! What a gem! I love sentimental stuff like that- oh here come the water works again. I'm a big baby.

What an amazing idea. That sounds wonderful and I can't imagine how strong the spirit must have been is such a beautiful setting. Jax's blessing is in a few weeks and I'm super jealous of this idea.

What a beautiful dress. Linkin was blessing in my dads blessing outfit and it meant so much to me. I have no idea what Jax is going to wear.
