Murder vs. Love

Murder

pros:
dressing up
(Our characters were a 1940's "hussie" and "international businessman")

Mindy's incredible planning and attention to every, last detail
the exquisite food
(including mormon-friendly luxuries: Martinelli's, cranberry juice, and biscottis soaked in hot chocolate)

uber-sexy Taylor, donning his fedora hat
 Erik and his fake cigar

cons:
One incredibly sick husband

Love

pros:
love gifts

 husband's mouthwatering pizza

My double-layered mud cake with a mascarpone mousse filling and a bittercream ganache frosting

Hazel FINALLY  feeling a bit better.
(basically we've had the plague at our house for the past 3 weeks)

cons:
8 dollars spent on two balloons that Hazel immediately destroyed.

(One flew away in the parking lot 2 seconds after we walked out of the store,
and one turned the corner and was never seen intact again.)

So, the questions stands;
A night of murder and intrigue or an evening of homemade comforts?
I choose both,
hey a girl can be naughty AND nice, right?

Bittercream? Is this the real name or is that a typo meant to be buttercream? Cause I love the name bittercream ganache. I think it works, and I've just never heard of it.

I also really love that you had a night out and a fun how to host a murder party or whatever those things are called. Why can't I have friends that throw cool parties? Hell, why can't I have "married" friends? Oh geez.

crystal, you are one stunning hussie!!! haha! i love it! i've never been to a murder/mystery dinner, but have always wanted to! how bout you host one this summer and invite us?! :) i have to say i do love the home comforts these days for holiday celebrating. it's nice to make fun memories at home and not deal with the craziness of restaurants! taylors pizza looks amazing...i'm not surprised, and he even throws the dough?!?!?! he's a keeper!

so sorry the plague hit your home....nothing worse than already having to be trapped inside due to crummy winter weather, but to be sick on top of that totally sucks! hope you're all on the mend!

yeah, it's really called bittercream ganache frosting.

All the chocolate used in the cake was intensely dark. Which I assume is where the "bittercream" came from.

Oh my, what a fun night. Seriously. Also, I want Taylor to make us pizza. Okay, I would settle for the recipe...I'm hoping it's not from his completely random southern cookbook of secrets. It just looks delicious. Also, can I please just have Hazel? I will give you a balloon. Seriously, it was SO fun to see you guys. I think we need to plan something like...monthly. Sad---monthly? remember when I used to see you like...daily?!? yeah. Good times. Plus, if we still lived there, me and Penn could come over and sit on your couch for hours together. That would be good times, too! Anyway, thanks again for coming all the way down! You guys are the best!

Crystal, you look like a super model. Your cake also looks amazing and Hazel looks so cute with her balloon. Zoe loves balloons and every time we go to the dollar store she HAS to have one :)

Hahaha! That balloon flying away right after you got it was great! That stuff happens to us all the time. Oh how cool, you got a new toy? Oh yep, sorry bud, you managed to break it in .5 seconds and now you're screaming and of course I can't fix it. Wasn't that fun? No, I won't buy you another one, or anything, ever, because I have to save up enough money now to try to buy my hearing back. Silly, I know, why would I want to be able to hear you whine? Anyway,

Op, looks like the baby's awake. At least he can decide what he wants for breakfast. Your cake and yourself look amazing, and I love the picture of the balloon the last time you saw it whole, haha! Love you!

I'm glad you ended up being able to go, despite Taylor's terrible illness. You look like you should have been in a smoky bar in occupied France, chatting it up with some men in uniform, while slipping some dynamite duct taped to an alarm clock into their rucksack. Nevertheless, my money is on Taylor being the culprit -- businessmen are always to blame.

Nice pizza and cake. Feel free to make similar items for us once you get her this week.
