We've had some exciting things going on lately... Most exciting of all is the fact that my feet have returned from the brink. I was well into "elephant feet" status, especially the day after birthing Hazel when I had 7 liters of fluid in my body. I'm happy to say that 2 weeks later my feet are almost back to normal. I say 'almost' because I can still make a slight dent in my leg when I push on it; nothing compared to the cave that I could make in my skin before. And yes, this was painful. I felt like my skin was about to split open. A good comparison comes from my friend Melissa who said "it feels like I'm wearing ski boots".
I'm sure I don't have to say that this was the 'before'
and this is the 'after'
The second most exciting thing is that Hazel's button fell off! Her umbilical cord stub was disgusting and we were so glad that it finally kicked the bucket. However, that crusty, little shriveled, piece of cord was my final link to the fact that I actually carried her inside of my body, so in a way it was a bitter sweet farewell.

The third most exciting thing happened when we took Hazel in for her 2 week appointment. The doctor was hoping that she had re-established her birthweight (7lbs 12 oz.), when they discovered that she was a whopping 8 lbs 10 oz! I told you she was a champion eater. I guess the sore nipples are worth it (wait, can I say "nipple" on here...is everyone grossed out???)

I am so happy for you! Your feet look amazing. I remember just after I had Noel I kept looking at my feet thinking, "look, I really do have ankles and they look great!" Hazel is adorable.
Crystal, I am dying over your ankles. I'm sorry I don't mean to laugh but seriously, you were complaining about them at work and they got so much worse. They look so uncomfortable. I'm sorry!! I'm sure it's great to have them back.
Isn't it weird to think that Hazel doesn't even weigh as much as I did when I was born haha. I was a big baby! She is so cute, I can NOT wait to see her this week.
P.S. As long as you are comfortable saying nipples on your blog I say do it. It's a natural thing...
Oh, you poor thing! Those are the worst looking pregnant ankles I have ever seen!! But they are looking mighty fine now. Little Hazel is just adorabe too. Keep the pictures comin'.
Okay you have my sympathy, you win the ankle contest! That just looks so painful. Hazel is just adorable!
Good times... I remember my feet got really swollen AFTER I had Deacon! My family was freaking out but they finally went back to normal. Pregnancy was great and all, but I love NOT being pregnant! I just wish there was an easier way for them to get here...
Yeah, Melissa's feet were grotesque. I was actually getting a little worried there. You have such lovely ankles now!
I seriously love the name Hazel. She is beautiful!
I love it when you post a blog, Crystal did you know i check every single day, i love reading what you have to say and i love looking at your pictures of your beautiful baby. Your feet looked exactly like mine, i remember being super surprised because my feet are super skinny and bony the only part of my body that i am proud of haha but hooray i remember taking pictures of my beautiful ankles. My nose got super swollen when i was pregnant like seriously bad i should post a picture, i mean my nose is a big polynesian nose but boy was it huge anyways i love reading and looking at your blog it makes me so happy inside
take care!
The pictures of your foot make me SO excited to give birth!
Oh Crystal...seeing your ankles gives me hope!!! THey look fantastic!!! I can't wait to not only see my ankles again..but be able to bend them and take a step without pain!
Little Hazel must be a champion eater! I guess the sore nipples are worth it!?!
Little Hazel is so cute! She changes so much with each picture! Keep posting!
I saw those ankles in person--and they were the worst I've seen--so, so sorry you had to suffer so much, but they look like the fabulous ankles we all know and love (now we need to get a post pedicure...don't you think!!?? Can't wait to see Hazel baby today--she looks darling in red ... course there hasn't been a color yet that she hasn't look great in....
I'm so sorry about the big ankles, I can totally relate! It is so nice when you can finally see your ankle bones again. Being pregnant always makes me so grateful for my health and how great I feel when I'm not pregnant. Hazel is as cute as can be. I love her little red dress and tiny feet. Keep the pictures coming!
oh...can i come with you for your "post-pedicure?!" Great idea by your cute mom! SO...i'm glad you braved putting your ankle pictures on here...i've debated it several times because everytime i look at the before and after pictures i just can't believe those are really my feet! So glad you're back to normal now!
Hazel is so cute! She must be gaining weight in her thighs or somewhere else because her cute little face looks as tiny as can be still! I love her little headband with 3 flowers on it! I haven't seen one like that yet! She is just darling! I can't wait to meet the little sweetie in person... only a little over a month! Did i tell you i'm flying out on June 3rd?! We keep playing phone tag...
Hope all goes well with your sleepover! AND...no, it's ok to say nipples when you're the mother of a newborn....please..."NIPPLES" is the one subject your whole world revolves around at this point!!
Oh! she is so beautiful and I miss her already! I'm going to have to come over again this week. Too sweet. I'm so glad that your feet aren't hurting you anymore and you can walk around without feeling like you are wearing ski boots! ha ha too funny. I'm happy that everythings going so well and that she's growing like a champ, hopefully the breast feeding will get better. you can only hope!
Wow! You poor thing! Your ankles looked very painful! After I had Eli my ankles got pretty big. They said it was because as soon as I had him I was up and walking all over the place. (Since he was in NICU I spent very little time resting in bed with my feet up). My sore swollen ankles were the only reason I even took pain meds after! But I must say, your ankles looked way worse than mine, those pictures don't even look like the same foot! :)
Hazel is such a pretty little baby! Keep the pictures coming!
Holy Cankles!! I can't believe you were walking on those things. But your feet look beautiful now. I know you already know but Hazel is so so cute and you are a good mommy. Birth weight plus is awesome at two weeks.
she is just adorable... and so are your cute feet- im glad they are back to normal, that must have been oh-so-painful.
oh my goodness your poor feet!!!!! Yikes im glad they have gone back to normal, i bet you're happy, ha love the new pics of Hazel, she is so gorgeous!!!!
I think it's fine to talk about your nipples, but you might have crossed the line with the nasty, grainy, leaving-it-to-your imagination photo of the dried out umbilical cord.
I'm glad your feet have recovered. What a nice navicular you have.
I tried to chat with you today while I was home sick, and you logged off once I initiated conversation. I invented that trick, you dirtbag.
Hooray for normal looking feet. I am glad that you are feeling back to normal. And might I add that you have lovely little feet.
I think that dress that Hazel is wearing is so darling, I want to find one a whole lot bigger for Gwen to wear. She is growing so fast, and I am glad to hear that she has surpassed her birth weight, and that you are still alive and nursing.
That is something that didn't work out for me, so kudos to you for sticking it out through the pain.
I love the pictures of baby Hazel she is just so darling. You must be so happy and proud, what a sweet little girl.
I canNOT believe your feet! I thought I had it bad....It seriously looks like your skin is going to split!
You are such a trooper! Hazel looks so darling in that red polka dot dress.... who gave you that??? :)
Are you ready to get together? I haven't heard an update on Melissa... what's her status? Maybe I can wait so I can see both your cute babies!
I still can't get over your poor ankles and feet! YOUCH!
If you talk to Melissa-tell her I'm SO EXCITED for her and I hope everything goes well. Please pass forward any info you hear from her.
So... when is Hazel old enough to hang out?
Oh Crystal! She is so precious:) I just love her! I am so glad your ski boots have gone down. ;) Aren't they the best? If only men could experience child birth. Enjoy every second of the newborn stage! I goes by way too fast!
She is looking so cute!! We are so happy for you! Congrats to ya both!
like i already wasn't FREAKED out enough about having a kid, then you had to go and post those pictures of your ankles. HELL crystal. Those look like hell. Good thing you're so hot. and so is your baby!
