"This is an Event, Not Some Cheesy Mormon Shindig." --Kim Frost

Mom's 60th birthday
just happened to fall
around the gathering of her six children;
which may not seem like much to some families,
but the Frost Clan had not been all together
for over five years!

With several of us living out of state,
new babies,
travel expenses,
and school,
getting together during those years
proved to be extremely difficult.

But
with the Mike Family moving home last October,
the Colby Family moving home in June,
and the Jared Family traveling home for the 4th of July;
the planets finally aligned.

With this realization upon us,
we knew that we needed to make her birthday
a special celebration.

After months of deliberation,
waffling back and forth,
and serious anxiety,
the Oberg campground was decided on as the location
and our "elegant outdoor chic" theme was born.

Appetizer hour started things off
with hummus,
cherries,
a fancy cheese selection,
olives,
and sparkling cider,

and visiting around the campfire.

Once Chelsey arrived after her minor car malfunciton
(see: a major overheating situation on the other side of the mountain)

We sat down to a delicious, catered, Greek meal
of chicken and steak souvlaki,
gyro meat,
greek potatoes,
greek salad,
warm pita bread,
and tzatziki cucumber sauce;

followed by more visiting,
and more laughing.

We punctuated our birthday song with sparklers
(we need all the help we can get);

but chose to wait on cake consumption
while our bellies digested,
and instead,
went on a walk around the beautiful Oberg campground;

where more visiting and laughing occured.

 we made it back to our dining area,
just as the sun was going down
and the lights were turning on;

and tried to find a tiny corner of our stomach
for this decadence:

followed by,
even more visiting,
laughing,
and even some tears this time;
because we all took turns
telling my mom how great she is.

We love you mama;
happy 60th!

Also a giant "thank you"
to our friend Kent Miller
 for the amazing pictures
and making this a moment in time
that will never be forgotten.

I can't say thank you enough to my kids and their spouses for this fabulous party. The setting was spectacular, the decorations were beautiful, the food was to die for but the company was best of all. Getting old is really no fun, but I have to say this is one of those birthdays that will not be forgotten because of all that you did for me. Thank you for being my children--I know I must have handpicked everyone of you because your are perfect for me in my eyes--and I am so glad that I am your momma. All of your efforts on my behalf we very noticed and not taken for granted. LOVE YOU ALL--here's to another twenty!!!
